Peter Pan – from Street Team member Jorik

When you were a kid, did you ever have that feeling where you never want to grow up, and thought being an adult sucked? Did you ever dream of flying high in the sky after magic glitter called pixie dust fell on you? Well, that’s a regular day according to Peter Pan.

Last October 30, along with the TDS street team, I watched the Repertory and STAGES production of “Peter Pan”, starring Sam Conception playing the title role, and our TDS mentor, Michael Williams as Captain Hook.

Peter Pan – from Street Team member Marga

Posted by on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 9:01 pm

Sem break was pretty epic. We rehearsed and performed in school for an event called UMAEL. It was all pretty memorable, and we all had so much fun. The next day, some of us went on a field trip to Meralco Theater to watch Peter Pan. The show was – I guess you could say – highly anticipated, since we’d been planning it for a few months now. On our way to the theater, we heard that we had Michael’s approval to go backstage after the show, which really excited us, since it’s a privilege to be able to go backstage without having to purchase a VIP pass or something, and apparently, some of us are Sam Concepcion fans…

Posted by on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 8:56 pm

Going down memory lane a bit here, but not too far back. We were digging up posts in the queue and found a couple of posts written by Street Team members Marga and Jorik about last year’s hit musical Peter Pan! So sorry you guys, we all got too caught up with work! Your posts are coming next!

New Blog.TDS feature: User Profiles

Posted by on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Hey there! It’s been a while since we updated anything tech-wise on this blog, so we have something for you guys: User Profiles! We’ve been wanting to roll it out for quite some time now, but we’ve been waiting for WordPress to release some updates to address some bugs in the back end. Since we’re now on WordPress 3.3.1, these so-called issues have been addressed, so now we can offer Profiles to you! Simply see the Meta section of our sidebar and click on Register, or you can just click this link.

What’s so special about the Profiles, you ask? A first glance would tell you nothing much…you’ll still be able to read the entries on this blog as usual, but one major change so far is that you won’t have to enter your name and your email address whenever you want to comment! If you’re logged in, you’re good to go! You save approximately 2 minutes of your life whenever you comment! Congratulations!

Here’s one more perk for members of the Street Team: from time to time, we will be granting you special privileges to write your blogs straight from your own Blog.TDS account! That’s right! You won’t need to submit entries to our dedicated TDS Webmaster. All you’ll have to do is to write your blog, save it as a Draft, and we will take care of the rest! If you’re on the team and you want to be granted this privilege indefinitely, all you need to do is email the Webmaster, and he’ll grant you special access at the soonest possible time. That’s just one of the ways we show you how much we appreciate all you’ve done for TDS!

Register today and be sure you add your own profile photo on Gravatar! It’s simple. Just sign up with the same email you used to sign up for your Blog.TDS account, upload a photo to associate with that email, and you’re all set!

Now go forth!

10 things touring taught me

Posted by on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 2:04 pm

Hey, it’s Daryl. Sorry it took any of us so long to update this blog. We’ve all been really busy since November, what with the SM “It’s Christmas: The Musical” National Tour, the AAVA Christmas Concert, “You Can’t Stop the Beat!”, and, most recently, the school tour of “The Princess and the Red Carp”! It’s been crazy, but amazing. I can only wish all jobs in the world are as fun as the one we have. It’s not easy, but it’s all really worth the blood, sweat, and tears (okay, no one has bled yet, so maybe injured toes and joints, sweat, and more sweat).

I’m taking time out of my semi-lazy Monday afternoon to share what I got out of the tour, in almost the same spirit as Michael Kostroff’s “Letters from Backstage: The Adventures of a Touring Stage Actor” (read it if you haven’t, it’s quite funny). I’m hoping the other people I toured with will share what they learned, but if they don’t, I hope my lessons suffice. Take them to heart!
